Dear
Friends,
Ergonomics
or Human factor is the study of the physical and cognitive
demands of work to ensure a safe and productive workplace.
It aims at making overall work system more user-friendly
and reliable. It also entails evaluation of human facilities,
jobs, work methods and environment and equipment to
match with the physical, physiological and psycho-sociological
capabilities of users and thereby reduce fatigue, errors,
discomfort and unsafe operation. Ergonomics thus has
the potential of becoming a driving force for the efficient
achievement of personal and organizational goals.
Indian
Society of Ergonomics (ISE) has started a series of
conferences termed as Humanizing Work and Work Environment
(HWWE) with a broad perspective to share the common
concerns for contemporary human factor issues.
Keeping
in mind the above objectives, University of Calcutta,
Department of Physiology is now organizing HWWE
2009 at Kolkata. The aim of this conference
is to provide a platform to scientists, researchers
and practitioners to exchange their views and experiences.
We invite you to participate in this conference to be
held in December 17-19, 2009 at University of
Calcutta.
